RESIDENTIAL INTERIOR DESIGN

Zhuhai, China

This is an interior design project for a serviced apartment building in a new developed region in Zhuhai, China.

FACTS

Zhuhai is known for its beautiful long coastline, waving palm trees, open spaces, low population density, and its many islands. It has a reputation within China of being a garden city and having a quality of life.

FORESIGHT

A lark, early bird, morning person is a person who usually gets up early in the morning and goes to bed early in the evening. The lark (bird) starts its day very early, which explains the choice of the word lark for people who may sleep earlier. Human "larks" tend to feel most energetic just after they get up in the morning.

The opposite of the lark is the owl, often awake at night. A person called a night owl is someone who usually stays up late and may feel most awake in the evening and at night.

In several countries, especially in Scandinavia, early birds are called A-people and night owls are called B-people.

INSPIRATIONS

Having the two personas in mind, "Lark suite" is inspired by sunroom, permits abundant daylight and views of the coastline entering the apartment. Hydraulic foldable bed could be stowed when not in used and allow flexibility in space for exercise and other activities enjoying daylight, without compromising comfort.

"Owl suite" took inspiration from the fun, enjoying-life attitude of the persona, marble bench along the window could be served as cocktail station, vinyl player booth and even seating for additional guests.
