Paring Onions has successfully created a new brand for a new generation of airport lounge -
Blossom is the first joint venture operation between the 2 international lounge operation giants,
the Plaza Premium Group (HKG) and SATS (SIN). Paring Onions was engaged to design the
brand identity and its DNA, and ultimately an interior which reflects the fast-changing culture of
airport lounges.
The world’s first Blossom is located in Terminal 4 of the award winning Singpore Changi
Airport. The space is a combination of the main lounge and the island, overlooking the
passengers’waiting area and boarding gates. The lounge comprises of a check-in reception,
a dining area complete with self-serve and live-kitchen, business cabins, island bar, as well as
a napping lounge when a more private environment is needed.
The reception features a customized design portal constructed by Dutch designed ‘lacefence’,
extending a warm welcome and a transition between the terminal buzz into a tranquilized
lounge. Furniture are all custom designed specifically for the brand. Walls are lined with hanging
metallic cylinders mimicking the notion of a moving wind chime.
